Training.

For Commercial Pool Service Technicians

Are you managing a pool service company or are you a service technician? It’s not an easy job considering all the different disciplines involved in providing a reliable, quality maintenance service to your pool customers. Understanding the processes of flocculation, filtration, water chemistry, chemical control and dosing, and particularly how they interact with each other, is vital in ensuring you can deliver excellent water quality for your clients.

There’s plenty of training out there if you want to become a pool plant operator, or a pool builder/installer, but there’s very little in the way of specialized training available for commercial pool Service Technicians, until now!

Andrew Gaffey Ltd specializes in training Service Technicians, to equip them with the necessary knowledge and service techniques to greatly raise their abilities and performance. Covering a range of specialist subjects, this training is designed to help avoid the common mistakes and pitfalls that can often lead to unresolved problems, multiple call-backs, unhappy customers, and the resulting loss of valuable profits that ultimately follows. For Pool Plant Operators

Andrew Gaffey provides Ofqual regulated STA Level 3 Pool Plant Operations courses, both private and public courses, meaning you have the option and convenience of having this training delivered at your facility and tailored to your requirements. One-day STA Swimming Pool Water Testing or Swimming Pool Water Treatment courses are also available.

If you are fairly new to the industry and have recently completed a PPO course at a facility other than your own, taking on the responsibility of operating your own plant room can sometimes be a daunting task. As good as they can be for a three day course, PPO courses can’t possibly cover every technical eventuality that you may face at your facility, or allow for the limitations and differences that your own pool plant may have due to its age, design or type of equipment.

Our PPO Mentoring Service provides the opportunity for PPO staff to spend one or two days with a highly experienced plant engineer on their site, to go through hands-on operation techniques and practices that will get the best performance from their equipment, improve water quality control, reduce wastage and accidental equipment damage. It will also help and encourage them to become more self-reliant in safely dealing with the day to day water treatment and maintenance challenges that can often occur. Without the presence of peer pressure and time constraints, staff are more open about their understanding and abilities and can therefore make great gains by asking all the questions that are specifically relevant to them and their own facility operation.

Whether you are new to the industry, or an experienced pool plant operator wanting to develop a greater understanding and know-how, Andrew Gaffey Ltd can provide a completely tailored service.

Our mentoring service doesn’t end after two days! As part of the service, attendees will be provided with 30 days technical email & telephone support, just in case any additional questions or operational queries arise after the mentoring visit. As an option, a year-round technical email and telephone support service is available for an additional fee.

Our PPO Mentoring service covers:
  • Controlling water chemistry balance in relation to local water conditions

  • Test equipment, reagents, maintenance, interpreting results

  • Filtration plant operation & backwashing

  • Circulation pump operation, valves & heat exchangers

  • Chemical dosing equipment operation & maintenance tasks

  • Flocculation practices & optimising water treatment

  • Dealing with algae, biofilm and bacteriological issues

  • UV treatment

  • Chemicals – safe practices & storage

  • Advice on developing or updating your Pool Technical Operating Procedures document
